VASSILI NESTERENKO BIOGRAPHY

Introduction

Was born on February 28 1967 in Pavlograd, Ukrain

National Artist of the Russian Federation, the member of the Academy of Fine Arts of the Russian Federation.

Vasily Igorevich Nesterenko was born in a town Pavlograd in Ukraine in the family of geologists. When Vasily was 8 years old his family moved to Moscow. The talent of artist appeared in the childhood. “I always loved art from my childhood. Art is like a serious disease. Many people infects by such virus. Many of those who were sick by art recovered in future. The only few remained “sick” during the whole life. I am among those who is sick by art during the whole life. “ – said Vasily about himself.

His father died rather early and he was grown up by his mother Galina Vasilievna Nesterenko. She was very worried about his future and did not accept his idea to become a painter at the beginning. But Vasily being 9 years old chose his profession and was going to attend a specialized art school. In 1980 at the age of 13 he entered Moscow Secondary Art School (at present Moscow Academic Art Lyceum). The name of this school is more known as Surikov’s School. He graduated from the school in 1985 with golden medal. The exams to school were very serious.  15 candidates were on 1 student place. The leading teachers of Moscow Art Institute named after Surikov by the Russian Academy of Art looked through students works. Preparations for the exams took place in studio named after Grekov, in the artist studio of N. Prisekin who is a national artist of Russia, famous battles painter awarded by many State awards.

Moscow academic art lyceum is a legendary school where old traditions were saved.  Several generations of famous artists came from this school. The school became both the school of professionalism, artistic skills and the place were Vasily          1m+69was formed as personality of master and creator. He got knowledge not only from teachers but also by the works of greatest painters! The Tretyakov Gallery was located right crossing the road. Young painter went there each school break and spent time there watching greatest paintings, noticed and marking each sketch and taking experience of the greatest artists. Young painter read books about Russian and world art. Vasily and other students turned their attention on the spiritual beauty of ancient Russian architecture and painting.
